The Design District, an 18-block neighborhood north of Downtown Miami, is the city’s creative hub. With a recent gentrification of the area led by local figures such as Craig Robins and Terence Riley, the district has undergone a rebirth that has placed it on the world map. Celebrated interior design stores and showrooms as well as edgy art galleries, nightclubs, and restaurants draw a constant flux of art lovers and residents to the area. Every December, global art fair, Art Basel, descends on Miami. The Design District hosts the now-famous Art Loves Design block party on Saturday night and dozens of art shows. Current and planned residential development promise to continue bringing vitality to the area. |
